Detroit Pistons’ forward Blake Griffin highlights disparity in market size attitudes

The Davis Debate

Griffin’s comments shed new, albeit indirect, light on the controversy surrounding Anthony Davis‘ request to be traded away from the New Orleans Pelicans last season and his subsequent offseason move to the Lakers.

Griffin ultimately defended Davis against Steve Kerr’s condemnation. However, Griffin does seem wary that the move only reinforces the attitudes toward small-market teams.

Still in reference to his aforementioned former teammate, Griffin notes that “the stigma and the idea behind [the move to a large-market] for people was, like, ‘Oh, man, you did it!'”
