Monday January 13, Pelicans

The Pelicans are one of the league’s most strange teams and an absolute must watch not just this game but all season. The Pelicans are being nicknamed “the NBA League Pass team” where that $200 price-tag is easy for NBA diehards to stomach with great basketball on a weekly basis. The Pelicans, along with the Thunder, had an excellent reaction to trading away the best players in their respective franchise’s histories.

After getting Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, and three first round picks. Those picks were the fourth overall pick, 2021 first round pick, first round pick swap in 2023, and a 2024 first round pick. Signing J.J. Redick and trading for Derrick Favors gives skill and veteran experience for the Pelicans.

The Pelicans also had an incredible draft day that started on lottery night where the Pelicans were gifted Zion Williamson. The Pelicans weren’t done yet after they traded the fourth pick, which became De’Andre Hunter, and Solomon Hill to the Hawks for picks 8, 17 and 35. Those picks conveyed to Jaxson Hayes at eight, Nickeil Alexander-Walker at pick 17, and Marcos Louzada Silva at pick 35.

Losing a generational talent in Anthony Davis, and solid role players Elfrid Payton and Julius Randle will hurt but Zion has the potential to make this all worth it.

The Pelicans are a huge question mark going into this season which is what will make them so fun to watch. Opening night vs. the Raptors will be very intriguing to seeing what will happen with them this season. From Reddick’s sharpshooting to Zion’s highlight reel dunks to Lonzo Ball and Jrue Holiday’s lockdown defense, you will want to be in attendance for this one. Currently this is scheduled to be the next #PistonsTwitter meetup, join us there!
