Playing the Knicks the last game of the season.

It was certainly in the Pistons’ favor last year to play the tanking Knicks, as Griffin was hurt and couldn’t play and the team had to be led by Ish Smith to solidify their playoff berth.

Once again, the Knicks are a joke. They signed a million power forwards in the offseason. They’re the doormat franchise in the East along with Charlotte and it could bear fruit again if Detroit’s season comes down to one game again like last season.

Besides the Knicks at the end, Detroit plays Brooklyn, Miami, Minnesota, Atlanta, Miami, Dallas, and Boston in April. Of these teams Brooklyn, Boston, and Miami figure to be in the playoff mix in the eEast and will not be easy wins. Minnesota, Atlanta and Dallas all feel like a year away from being possibly good. The key will be maximizing rest time for Blake, so clinching early will be key, although having the Knicks in your back pocket is a pretty reliable trick.
