The Detroit Pistons have Michael Beasley and Christian Wood on non-guaranteed contracts, but what if they choose to keep both?

As the Detroit Pistons roster is currently constructed, they are light at small forward and center.

Barring a move before training camp or the regular season, the Pistons have 14 guaranteed contracts on the roster. The small forward position includes Tony Snell, Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk and Sekou Doumbouya. The center position includes Andre Drummond. That’s it.

Veteran forward Michael Beasley and Gatorade League star Christian Wood are on non-guaranteed contracts entering training camp. Beasley was signed to a one-year deal while Wood was claimed on free agency waivers.

There’s a general sense that the two will compete against each other in camp. The reality is they bring different skillsets to the table and aren’t so much competing against each other as they are fighting to prove why they’re worth of the last spot.
