What you need to know about Detroit Pistons day on NBA TV

NBA TV is continuing to feature NBA teams and Aug. 27 features the Detroit Pistons. Here’s the low-down on what they’re airing.

It’s a dry season for NBA fans by thank goodness for NBA TV, which is dedicating a day to each fan base. For Tuesday, Aug. 27 it is the Detroit Pistons turn.

The channel features plenty of throwback options from important games to special features that include the Detroit Bad Boys and Isiah Thomas.

Coverage will continue, with a brief break for NBA Gametime, up to 3 a.m. ET. Here is a full schedule of what’s being shown.

9 a.m. (all times ET): Blake Griffin’s 50-point game against the Philadelphia 76ers on Oct. 23, which was a 133-132 Pistons win in overtime.

11 a.m.: Pistons clinch the 1990 NBA Finals with a 92-90 win over the Portland Trail Blazers in Game 5. Thomas scored 29 points with Vinnie Johnson adding 16 points in the series-clincher. Bill Laimbeer secured 17 rebounds.

1 p.m.: Grant Hill scores a career-high 46 points against the Washington Wizards on Feb. 8, 1999.

3 p.m.: The Pistons secured the 2004 NBA Finals in a 100-87 win over the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 5. All five starters were in double figures, led by Richard Hamilton’s 21 points. Ben Wallace had a massive double-double with 18 points and 22 rebounds.

5 p.m.: Players Only Monthly: Isiah and Magic – an hour-long feature that takes a look back at the 1988 NBA Finals, their friendship off the court, travels and more.

6 p.m.: The Pistons complete the sweep in the 1989 NBA Finals with a 105-97 win over the Lakers. Six Pistons were in double figures, led by Joe Dumars’ 23 points.

8 p.m.: To get to the Finals, the Pistons had to go through the Chicago Bulls in 1989. Dumars scored a game-high 33 points in a Game 6 Eastern Conference Finals clincher. Michael Jordan scored 32 points and had 13 assists.

10 p.m.: Bad Boys – a two-hour documentary about the Detroit Bad Boys, particularly Thomas and the supporting cast around him.

1 a.m.: Shaquille O’Neal had a monster 36-point, 20-rebound performance in Game 4 of the 2004 NBA Finals but the Pistons prevailed 88-80 behind a 26-point, 13-rebound performance out of Rasheed Wallace.
