Take a look at every draft pick the Detroit Pistons have selected within the last 10 years to see how their career’s panned out and where they are now.

The draft is an exciting time for many NBA franchises. It is a time where regardless of how your franchise did during the regular season you have hope that your team will be able to draft the game-changing player your franchise needs to get to the next level. Some teams, such as the San Antonio Spurs are known for being excellent in the draft, routinely drafting diamonds in the rough that end up being stars or at minimum solid role players.

The Pistons unfortunately have not been as lucky with their selections in recent years. Either the Pistons completely whiffed on their pick or they improperly evaluated a diamond in the rough, moving him and eventually regretting the decision when the player blossoms for another franchise. This improper evaluation of players is something that the Pistons had to address.

The best way to improve your franchise is through the draft. Players that get drafted are on cheap rookie scale contracts which are imperative to successful franchises so that way they have the cap space to sign other more expensive, established players to make a more competitive roster. Quality young players on rookie scale contracts are also enticing assets to be used as trade bait as teams salivate over their cheap contracts and high potential.

The fact that the Pistons have been largely unsuccessful in recent history is a major factor as to why the team has been mired in mediocrity for the last decade. For the sake of entertainment, let’s take a stroll down memory lane to take a look at all the draft acquisitions the Pistons have made over this last decade. We will be looking into how their careers have panned out as well as seeing where they are now in 2019. The article will begin at the most recent draft that occurred this summer, then will go back all the way to 2010.
