A look at the Detroit Pistons best possible defensive lineup.

A season ago the Pistons were fairly average on defense. In certain categories they’d thrive, as they ranked fifth in the league in fast break points allowed per game (11.9) and third in the league in second chance points allowed (11.3). Conversely they were abysmal in just as many categories.

Casey will look to provide consistency and stability in a team where in recent years there has been none. So what could the Detroit Pistons best defensive lineup look like?

PG: Reggie Jackson

SG: Bruce Brown Jr

SF: Blake Griffin

PF: Markieff Morris

C: Andre Drummond

Almost identical to the presumed starting lineup, but with the addition of Morris.

As the rim protection that Drummond provides gets better and better with each season played, the Detroit Pistons would form a brick wall with these five.

Reggie Jackson’s defensive abilities in contrast to Rose may not seem too far off from one another. But, Jackson’s consistency and better off-ball defense is what may get him the nod over Rose.

Brown is likely the Pistons best on-ball defender. A season ago that was easily Stanley Johnson, but now it’s safe to say it’s Bruce, as he was consistently tasked with guarding the opposing team’s best guard throughout last season.

Griffin provides ,more or less, whatever the team needs at the time. Whether it’s interior defense or perimeter defense, the Detroit Pistons have no one they can rely on more than Griffin.
