Detroit Pistons have Joe Johnson on their radar
By Onaje Jones
NBA Veteran Joe Johnson, eyeing NBA return will be working out with several teams, including the Detroit Pistons in coming weeks.
The Detroit Pistons have made some impressive moves this off season, but could the signing of 17 year NBA veteran, BIG 3 MVP and Champion Joe Johnson be the missing piece to the Pistons puzzle?
I say, yes.
Johnson has garnered a tremendous amount of attention recently with his standout play in the BIG 3, where he won MVP and won the Championship as well. This past year Johnson led the league in scoring, assists, total field goals and 4-pointers.
At 38 years old, Johnson is showing NBA front offices around the league that he still has some gas left in the tank for a play on an NBA roster. If Johnson were to make a comeback he would be the third oldest player in the NBA behind Vince Carter and Jamal Crawford.
As reported by ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, Johnson will be working out with several teams which include the Pistons, Bucks, and his former team the Brooklyn Nets.

ISO Joe is a former 7-time All-Star, and made the All-NBA Third Team in 2010, Johnson is a proven scorer, that can play inside out, stretch the floor and play tough defense. In a stretch from 2005-10, Johnson averaged over 20 points per game for a season. With this standout track record and experience ISO Joe could bring that skill set to an improved Pistons roster.
Johnson made the NBA playoffs 13 out of his 17 long years in the NBA. With the potential to play on an inexperienced Detroit roster this upcoming season he could be what the team needs, whether its mentoring the young players or playing a scoring role off the bench due to the lack of wing depth on the roster.
With a Pistons team that is hungry to make a deep playoff push in the east and an NBA veteran eager to show he can still play at the highest level, Joe Johnson and the Detroit Pistons could be a match made in heaven.
