Detroit Pistons vs Brooklyn Nets 2019-20 Season Preview
Can Detroit contain Brooklyn on defense?
Once again, with Durant likely missing the entirety of the upcoming season, a majority of the Nets workload will fall onto the shoulders of Irving. Brooklyn also has a perennial Sixth Man of the Year candidate as their backup point guard in Dinwiddie, who killed the Pistons last season.
Though the Detroit Pistons will likely have a few instances this season where they get sliced and diced by Irving’s handles (as most teams in the league do), the real threats may lie with Harris and LeVert.
Harris is one of the league’s best shooters that not many people talk about. He won the 2019 NBA Three Point Contest after many had written him off as soon as he showed up. The most common misconception about his game is easily that he “hangs out at the perimeter.” Harris is an assassin from any spot on the court, and can get to the rim with ease.
LeVert is who Detroit Pistons fans should arguably be most worried about. He has exceeded expectations and has ironically drawn comparisons to his new teammate – Kevin Durant. Last season LeVert suffered a foot injury that at the time was presumed to be season ending. However he recovered quicker than anyone thought was possible and helped push the Brooklyn Nets into the playoffs.
