Good teams beat up on the bad ones. If Detroit wants to be a good team, and not just squeak into the playoffs, they must dominate the basement dwellers of the east. It would be shocking if Charlotte is not one of the worst teams in the NBA this year and Detroit should be able to get fat on both ends of the floor against their rag tag roster.

The first game against Charlotte will be in the preseason, but with both teams trying to solidify their rotations, we likely won’t know much from that encounter.

Barring catastrophe, Detroit should dominate Charlotte this year, but the quirky schedule will make it hard for them to reverse their fortunes and sweep the season series. The two teams will see each other three times within two weeks.

I predict that Charlotte will win one of the home games in that span. Detroit must go at least go 3-1 against this team but should aim for the season sweep. The Hornets have been a pain for the Pistons over the last few years, but this should be the year Detroit pads their win total against what should be one of the worst teams in the conference.

Be sure to check out our other previews as we’ve taken a look at the Atlanta Hawks, Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics so far.
