Derrick Rose’s championship dreams for Detroit Pistons
Rose-Colored Glasses?
While Rose has lacked the ability to stay healthy throughout his career, one thing he has never shied away from is showing confidence in himself and in his team. Most recently, Rose made headlines in 2016 when he called his new squad a “Super Team”, right up there with the Warriors.
His team was the New York Knicks.
When given the chance to backtrack on those statements only a few weeks later in an interview with ESPN’s Ian Begley, Rose chose instead to double down on his statement.
"“We have more options on this team. With the Bulls, we had more options too but the offense really went through me and Jimmy [Butler],” Rose told Begley. “With the Knicks, we have [Kristaps Porzingis], we have [Carmelo Anthony], we have [Joakim Noah] rolling to the rim. We’ve got Courtney [Lee].”"
If Rose wasn’t scared to say that the Knicks, who finished the year with a record of 31-51, was a super team, is he really scared of anything? It’s a fair question to ask.
