Pistons offense versus Cavaliers defense

Drummond had his way with the Cavaliers last season. It’s a favorable matchup for him against the likes of John Henson and Tristan Thompson. He averaged 20.8 points, 17.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game in the season series last season.

Later in the year, the Pistons were able to get free on the perimeter with hot 3-point shooting. Detroit spent plenty of time addressing last season’s shooting woes. Tony Snell should get plenty of catch-and-shoot opportunities as defenses will collapse down on Drummond and Griffin.

Speaking of Griffin, he averaged 20.3 points. 9.7 rebounds and 5.7 assists per game in last year’s season series. He can afford to be more of a point-forward with favorable matchups on the wing and in the paint. He’ll likely have a tough matchup with Love, who didn’t play in the four games last season.

Look for Kennard and Jackson to have plenty of opportunities as perimeter shooters as they did last season. Knocking down perimeter shots is going to be key to open up the paint for Drummond.
