Best Way to win an NBA Championship

It’s possible to win the NBA championship by building it quickly and it has been done many times throughout the league. It helped the Cavs win their first title and it’s possible the Nets could see this approach work in their favor as well.

It is also possible to win the championship by going slower. Building the team over a period of years while waiting for the right players, shows patience. Systematically making moves in hopes of building a power team can pay off in the end. Each method requires sacrifices.

Sometimes a team builds around a player and intends to take the slow approach, but realizes they have an opportunity to speed up the building process by trading them. It hurts at the moment, but sacrifices are sometimes needed to take the team to the next level.

I am a firm believer in the slow way of building championships. As a Pistons fan, I have seen firsthand how this approach wins titles and builds teams that can compete. The Goin’ to work Pistons team is a prime example of this.

This method is not as fancy, but it is personally more satisfying when a team takes a slow approach and builds through every possible method over a period of time. It requires sacrifices and difficult building seasons. It requires paying due diligence in the playoffs and losing for a few years before a winning culture is formed.

And it doesn’t always work. But when it does, it is cherished in the hearts and minds of fans forever. I’m optimistic that in time, this will be how a  future champion Detroit Pistons team will be built.
