Is new Pistons point guard Derrick Rose a Hall of Famer?
By Ryan Love
Rose’s case compared to his peers
Unique company
In 546 career games, Derrick Rose is averaging 18.8 points, 3.5 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game.
In 11 seasons, that leaves him at 10,281 career points and 3,056 assists.
Active players without much of a Hall of Fame career (below 25 percent according to Basketball-Reference) that have at least 10,000 points and 3,000 assists include:
- Kemba Walker
- Andre Iguodala
- Goran Dragic
- Mike Conley
- Jrue Holiday
- Lou Williams
- Raymond Felton
- Jamal Crawford
Among the All-Time ranks, Rose’s 10.5 percent chance at the Hall of Fame sits with the likes of Al Horford, Alvin Robinson, Deron Williams, and Sam Cassell.
For what it’s worth, these rankings also gave Bobby Jones, Pete Maravich, and Spencer Haywood similar percentages based off their respective careers. All three are in the Hall of Fame.
In addition, no NBA MVP winners in league history have ever retired and not made it into the Hall of Fame.
Can Rose get in?

In order to make the Hall of Fame, Rose will have to finish his career strong.
Another 4,000 points, another 2,000 assists, an NBA Championship, a late-career All-Star or All-NBA nod; anything that can further set him apart from the likes of Dragic and Holiday.
At this point in his career, he is not a Hall of Fame player.
He would be the outlier in that “all MVPs get in” statistic.
However, if he can complete this career resurgence that Pistons fans and his large national following hope he can, I’m saying there’s a chance.
