Detroit Pistons vs. Denver Nuggets 2019-20 preview
Nuggets O vs. Pistons D
Denver has the backcourt pieces to run away from the Pistons. A small-ball lineup could be lethal. Murray torched them for 33 points and, provided that Gary Harris returns to his 2017-18 form, the Nuggets could really provide issues.
With Kennard getting starters minutes, it leaves a weak backcourt pairing for the Pistons on the defensive end, and the offensive separation is probably a negative.
It’s no secret that the Nuggets offense runs through Jokic. He was the only player with a usage rate over 30 in both contests. Drummond took a lot away from Jokic, forcing him to shoot 17-for-41 (41.5 percent). Most importantly, Jokic only had six assists in the two games, which is well under his 7.3 per-game average last season.
That will require Denver’s guards to step up offensively and the Pistons guards defensively. If the Pistons can closeout on perimeter attempts and rotate defensively on drives, it’ll make life difficult, just like they did in last season’s series.
