Pistons O vs. Rockets D

Detroit’s offense was lights out in the first game and still solid in the second meeting, the one they won. Griffin dominated the ball 40 percent of the time in the loss but it was more balanced in the second game.

Expect him to have the ball in his hands a fair amount against a smaller P.J. Tucker. Griffin is strong enough to take him off the dribble, which should lead to the Rockets converging on him in the paint and allowing shooters to get open looks.

The key will be perimeter play against Houston. Should the Pistons knock down shots consistently, they’ll have a shot in the series. But they’ll have to keep pace with the Rockets 3-point shooting.

Fortunately, the Pistons offseason additions have focused on accurate shooters, or those coming off of career highs. Dwane Casey is starting to have a roster that will resemble what he wants to do offensively.

Derrick Rose‘s ball-handling and playmaking abilities should give him an opportunity to shine off the bench in this series against, presumably, Rivers and Eric Gordon.
