Pacers O vs. Pistons D

The Pacers shot the lights out in last year’s season series. Detroit has to be better at closing out and not allowing open shots. It’ll help having Griffin healthy and in the lineup, unlike the last two games of the season series last year.

Griffin will help match up against Sabonis, who averaged 18.8 points and 10.8 rebounds per game with a remarkable 71.9 true shooting percentage. Detroit’s addition of Markieff Morris will help on the defensive end with Morris bringing a physical, aggressive nature to that end of the floor.

It’ll be interesting to see how the Pistons match up in the backcourt with who they deploy Bruce Brown on. He could hold serve against the ball-dominant Brogdon and allow Tony Snell to match up with Warren. That would leave Reggie Jackson on Lamb.

Indiana has an edge in the starting lineup but the Pistons top eight may be better when you consider Oladipo may miss all four matchups this season. That depth could be used to wear down Indiana and keep up defensive pressure.
