Pistons’ Defense vs. Lakers’ Offense

Because of the versatility and greatness of LeBron and the Brow, the Lakers can throw out lineups that will be tough to defend. They can go big, really big, with Howard/McGee at center, Davis at power forward, LeBron at the 3 and the lengthy Rondo and KCP at guard. This lineup is huge but can’t shoot.

If the Pistons can keep them out of the paint and force them to take long two’s and three’s, they can compete defensively against this lineup. Both LeBron and Davis have killed the Pistons over the years and there is little chance that is going to stop. The Pistons have no one who can guard either one.

The key to this game will be shutting down everyone else. The Pistons must keep Rondo from penetrating and force he and KCP to take long jumpers. LeBron and the Brow are probably the best duo in the league, no one is going to stop them, but it takes more than two players to be successful. The Pistons’ focus should be stopping everyone else, making the Lakers shoot from range, which is their weakness, and forcing LeBron and Davis to work hard on defense, which will hopefully slow them down.

When healthy, the Lakers are going to be a handful for everyone. This is going to be a tough test for Detroit on both sides of the floor.
