Detroit Pistons vs. Los Angeles Clippers 2019-20 season preview
Blake Griffin gets a pair of dates with the much-improved Los Angeles Clippers. The Detroit Pistons will have their hands full in this year’s season series.
Blake Griffin will get a pair of dates with his former team, the Los Angeles Clippers, who are much improved and NBA title contenders.
The Detroit Pistons will have their work cut out for them with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George joining forces in Los Angeles.
Griffin was a franchise-changing player for the Clippers. He was everything they had hoped Shaun Livingston would be before his life-changing injury. But Griffin stayed healthy enough to deliver stardom, highlight-reel dunks and playoff appearances.
Then came the franchise-changing trade for both teams. Griffin came to the Detroit Pistons for a package including Tobias Harris and Boban Marjanovic. By all means, it was a win-win trade for both franchises.
For the Clippers, it allowed them to eventually free up the cap space to sign and acquire a pair of Top 10 players in Leonard and George. Detroit has a star player to build around and has already made the playoffs with once.
Last year’s season series was a split with the road teams winning their respective games. The Pistons earned a 109-104 win with Griffin turning in a 44-point, 8-rebound and 5-assist performance.
In the Clippers’ 111-101 win in Detroit, Lou Williams scored 39 points. Griffin turned in another strong performance with a double-double of 24 points and 11 rebounds. He also dished six assists.
This year’s season series will be a completely different match up. The Clippers lost four starters off last year’s team and have a completely different roster. Let’s take a look at their roster changes.
