Detroit Pistons vs. Los Angeles Clippers 2019-20 season preview
Pistons O vs. Clippers D
The perennial championship favorites are favored because of their defense. It isn’t a great matchup for the Pistons, or the other 28 teams in the league for that matter.
Andre Drummond is going to have to insert himself against Harrell and Zubac if the Pistons are going to open up the perimeter. Drummond has had success against LA’s second fiddle, averaging 15.5 points and 13.6 rebounds with 1.7 steals and 1.6 blocks per game in 13 career games.
His supposed newfound 3-point shot could cause some havoc for the Clippers defense in pick-and-roll/pop opportunities if he’s hitting at a consistent rate.
Guard play is going to be key with an opportunity to score against Shamet. It may be worth starting Luke Kennard to add an extra floor spacer and guy who can move with the ball in his hands or off the ball, whereas Bruce Brown has limited offense ability.
Griffin is going to be motivated to play so the Pistons will need to have players step up around him if they have a chance at beating the Clippers.
