Detroit Pistons vs. Memphis Grizzlies 2019-20 season preview
Grizzlies O vs. Pistons D
We all know the troubles that Brook Lopez gives Drummond by stretching the floor and nullifying his elite rebounding abilities and the same could happen since Valanciunas can spread the floor, Drummond’s weaknesses could be exposed again.
Reggie Jackson is a mediocre defender, at best, and Ja’s combination of his outside game and the ability to attack the rim could spell trouble for Reggie and Ja should drop at least 10 points per game against the Pistons.
Jaren Jackson Jr. was a question mark for many going No. 4 overall in the 2018 draft but he showed his promise this season making the All-Rookie First Team and proving himself to be the franchise player for the Grizzlies. His matchup against Griffin will be intense and exciting. Griffin was a great defender last season and for me personally put up a legendary defensive performance against Giannis Antetokounmpo in the limited minutes he played against the Bucks in the postseason.
The rest of the Grizzlies expected starters are their wings Anderson and Brooks. The Pistons actually have some good wing defenders now in Brown and Snell who should slow their production. Anderson isn’t a very flashy offensive player and is more known for his defense, similarly to Brown.
The Grizzlies bench doesn’t have very many volume scorers as their offense will be dominated by Jackson and Morant. The Pistons though also don’t have very many good bench defenders so expect a normal bench points night.
