Detroit Pistons vs. Minnesota Timberwolves 2019-20 season preview
Series prediction
Game 1: Nov. 11, 7 p.m. at Little Caesars Arena
Game 2: April 5, 7 p.m. at Target Center
It took some heroic comebacks last season for the Pistons to sweep the season series. Minnesota isn’t a bad team by any means with young talent across the board. The Timberwolves have mixed in some quality depth along the week that should help immensely.
They need to sure up their perimeter defense, which is what their offseason moves have done, but need that go-to scorer. With Drummond dominating Towns historically, it’s hard to see where Minnesota can step up.

Last year it was Covington and Rose having solid games in Minnesota. Then in Detroit, it was a depleted roster, with those two out, that shut down after blowing a 13-point first quarter lead.
Prediction: Detroit sweeps 2-0
Detroit has a great opportunity to capitalize on a sweep. The first game comes off a pair of off days and is the front end of a back-to-back. Granted the next game is against the Miami Heat, so the Pistons may play harder in Miami with Eastern Conference playoff seeding on the line.
Fast forward to April and it’s the opening game of a five-in-six game stretch on the road to close out the season. Prior to traveling to Minnesota, the Pistons play the Heat at home, another must-win game for playoff seeding. With possible playoff scenarios in mind, it could be a critical game for both teams.
