After the Detroit Pistons were swept by the Oklahoma City Thunder last season, here’s why it could be different in the 2019-20 season series.
The Detroit Pistons were on the losing end in both matchups against the Thunder last season. Both losses came by double-digits as the Thunder dominated Detroit in each game.
With the new season approaching, Detroit will once again square off against the Thunder twice.
Detroit will have an opportunity to take two wins from a Western Conference team that has had success the past few seasons.
But, this Oklahoma City team won’t have a triple-double machine this year in Russell Westbrook.
Westbrook, who spent the last 11 seasons with the Thunder and won the 2017 MVP award, has been the energizer bunny for the Thunder ever since the team drafted him fourth overall in 2008.
The past three seasons he averaged a triple-double. Westbrook has been a threat to every team he has played against. The Thunder will certainly miss his tenacity and his energy.
Along with Westbrook, the Thunder will be without All-NBA performer Paul George. George and Westbrook were the Thunder’s top scorers last season. George averaged 28 points per game and Westbrook 23 points per game.
The offense will look to replace the scoring from these two this season.
With Westbrook with the Houston Rockets and George playing with the Los Angeles Clippers, who will the Thunder look to for offense?
