5 Detroit Pistons that might help you win your fantasy basketball league
Fantasy basketball drafts will be conducted over the next few weeks and there are several Detroit Pistons that could push a team over the top.
Fantasy sports are growing in interest and the NBA is no exception. Granted a lot of fantasy sports are based on the booming industry of gambling. Season-long leagues are drawing less attention across all sports.
But there’s still plenty of people that do play, and we’re here for you and your Detroit Pistons guide. Most leagues roster the five true positions, an extra guard, forward and two-to-three utility positions.
Without having great depth to the bench, there isn’t a need to go further than the five Pistons players we will discuss here. But we’ll offer two other options for those that may have more depth to their leagues.
Markieff Morris is in a prove-it year and has a player option for a second year if things go awry. He should be motivated to bounce back in a solid situation where he will get quality playing time in the Pistons frontcourt.
Physical and aggressive in nature, he should be a threat on the boards and defensively. Though his role changed last year as a reserve, his numbers didn’t change much except for the per-game numbers due to the decreased minutes.
What suffered most was his scoring. His field goal percentage dipped from 48 percent the previous year down to 42.1 percent. The mid-season move to Oklahoma City can take some claim but even in Washington he was below is 44.9 career percentage. His 3-point percentage, developed late in his career, also dipped down to 33.5 percent after hitting 36.2 and 36.7 percent from 3-point range in the two seasons prior.
With Dwane Casey’s offense, he’ll have plenty of opportunities to shoot it and find his rhythm, which could be the spark he needs to find his touch.
The other player worthy of consideration won’t help you out much this year, but if you’re in a keeper or dynasty league, Sekou Doumbouya should be worth a glance.
At 6-foot-9, 230 pounds he has the athletic build to become a special talent. Some believe he could become similar to Giannis Antetokounmpo but Casey sees him more as a Pascal Siakam, with whom he developed in Toronto. A best-case scenario gives plenty of hope if the 18-year-old rookie pans out down the line.
Without further ado, here are five players that can help your fantasy basketball championship quest in 2019-20.
