Looking at a Jrue-guard

Dealing with David Griffin is tough because he uses sorcery to whip up great deals in favor of his squads. It will cost a price to acquire Jrue Holiday but the idea is intriguing, nonetheless.

Griffin believes strongly that Holiday can be a special player, stating that the Pelicans are Holiday’s team. Thus trading for him will take a strong offer.

The proposed trade is one to pull the trigger on if you’re Detroit, though. Sure, parting with two first rounders is tough but having Sekou Doumbouya in the mix as he develops is an added bonus and makes moving the picks easier.

Like dealing for Beal, it would be a short window to pair Holiday with Griffin. The guard is set to make $26.1 million this season and $25.4 million in 2020-21 before having a player option for 2021-22 valued at $26.3 million.

This would be a trade that would move the needle offensively. Holiday 21.2 points, 7.7 assists and 5 rebounds per game as the go-to-guy in New Orleans. With Griffin carrying a heavy usage rate, Holiday’s spot-up shooting would be an asset. He connected at a 35.4 percent clip in catch-and-shoot opportunities from 3-point range.
