Detroit Pistons vs Miami Heat 2019-20 season preview
Heat O vs. Pistons D
It goes without say that the Miami Heat added some offensive weapons this summer. Butler automatically becomes their primary ball handler, but Leonard is a solid finisher at the rim and Herro can be the 3-point assassin they need him to be.
Then come the veterans – Dion Waiters and Goran Dragic. The two have seemed to regress over the last several seasons but are still entirely serviceable on the offensive end. Justise Winslow has almost notoriously become the Heat fan base’s ultimate favorite player, and for good reason. Some would argue that Winslow is Miami’s best offensive weapon, as he’s someone who can create off of the dribble, attack the basket or pull up from the perimeter.
Detroit will have to but a primary focus on defending the arc. The interior game likely won’t prove to be fortuitous for Miami, so you can expect to see them attempt to push the ball around the outside until they find a shot that they like. Detroit is more than capable of bullying this team down low with Griffin and Drummond, so Miami may be wise to play the high percentage game from outside.
Miami’s “pace and space” offense could very well pick Detroit apart, so it is imperative that Detroit maintains a consistent game plan for Miami, because if they don’t things could get out of hand quick.
