The Detroit Pistons tip-off preseason play against the Orlando Magic. Here are daily fantasy sports tips, advice and analysis for Monday’s meeting.

Preseason basketball is upon us and there are certainly fantasy basketball degenerates that will be playing daily fantasy sports (DFS). We’re right here with you, at least to provide the content you’re looking for. If you’re new to DFS, here is a basic introduction to the beast with a few tips, tricks, scoring and lingo.

Monday is the Detroit Pistons preseason opener and the first opportunity to see the new acquisitions in action. The Orlando Magic travel to the Motor City on the heels of a 125-89 win over the San Antonio Spurs.

At Saturday’s training camp scrimmage, Pistons coach Dwane Casey advised not to make too much of the lineups and rotations – both in the scrimmage and Monday’s game. The second year coach will be trying different lineups out, seeing who fits well together, who doesn’t and allow the younger players, at least in terms of experience, to get solid run as they try to earn their keep.

If the Magic’s preseason opener is anything to learn from, Casey isn’t kidding. Nineteen of the 20 players dressed received at least three minutes for Orlando. The starters played 15-20 minutes per game. The next seven rotational players received 10-20 minutes, prioritized by their role. The remaining seven players received 3-9 minutes, likely in the fourth quarter while the game was well in hand.

However, Steve Clifford said recently that he plans to shorten his rotation for Monday’s game, which could take some listed players off the board. For the most part though, the Magic players listed are rotational pieces that Clifford should be looking at.

Preseason isn’t about wins and it’s difficult for fantasy players to navigate where the value is. Star players are scaled down in price as a result. There are plenty of opportunities for value, too.

It’s just a four-game slate for DFS players so hitting on value is necessary. Here is a position-by-position look at how one could construct their roster, including the top plays, value plays and fades, as needed.
