3. Shooting Woes

The Pistons struggle, at times, during the duration of the game to find any sort of shooting rhythm. They played nine minutes in the third quarter while shooting below 20 percent from the field.

Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk ‘wowed’ the crowd with a 3-pointer to end the third quarter and a three to start the fourth quarter on his way to scoring eight points.

Reggie Jackson looked a little rough as he shot 2-for-12 from the field. He did have a nice little elbow jump shot in the third quarter, but other than that, he’s shown that his shot selection still leaves a lot to be desired.

Drummond was the other Piston to shoot 50 percent from the field, and that’s including his attempt at a 3-point shot.

Overall, the team shot a gruesome 31-for-92 (33.7 percent) from the field and 10-for-37 from beyond the arc. For a team that was near the bottom of the league last season in 3-point scoring, 27 percent isn’t quite what you want to see.

Orlando, on the other side of things, shot 45 percent from the field to go with 15-for-35 from three (42.9 percent).

All that being said, it is the first real bit of action that the players have seen, while Orlando has already had a preseason game to warm up. Things will be sorted out, but the shooting that was an issue last seasons seems to have carried over to the preseason, at least.
