Dallas Mavericks vs. Detroit Pistons DFS tips, advice and analysis for Oct. 9
Point guards
FanDuel has Reggie Jackson ($6,200) and Jalen Brunson ($5,100) priced way too high for nothing being guaranteed in terms of playing time. Jackson did take 12 shots, hitting two, and got a fair amount of playing time. At $4,400 on DraftKings, he’s an interesting play.
Pretty much anyone that isn’t on a minimum salary on FanDuel isn’t in play, including Seth Curry ($4,800). Curry is a strong 3-point shooter but the Pistons were ninth defensively, allowing opponents to shoot 34.5 percent from 3-point range.
Value
DK: Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk ($4,000 – value at 20 DKFP)
FD: Derrick Rose ($3,500 – value at 17.5 DKFP)
Mykhailiuk is eligible at point guard and small forward on DraftKings. We’ll slot him here due to solid minimum value at small forward, but more on that later. Mykhailiuk has a smooth jump shot and improved range from 3-point land. He had the ball in his hands running the offense with the third string. His fantasy upside is good, especially due to late-game ball-handling duties.
Rose is fiery and got into the paint with ease against the Magic. He’ll have a greater opportunity to capitalize against a Mavericks lineup that doesn’t tout the length that made Orlando a top defense last season.
Fades
DK: If Doncic is active, he’s worth fading at $8,300. It’s going to be hard to hit a value of 41.5 DKFP. That could make Delon Wright ($4,600) or Brunson ($4,300) a quality play for Dallas. Rose is $4,900 and that seems a little steep with the Pistons possibly going deep into the rotation.
FD: As mentioned previously, Jackson, Brunson and Curry are out of my price range for this slate.
