The Detroit Pistons closed the preseason with a win over the Charlotte Hornets. They rested half of their rotation, allowing the other half to shine.

Reggie Jackson, Derrick Rose, Blake Griffin and Luke Kennard. This list contains all of the ball handlers in the Pistons rotation. It also contains all of the players that were out last night against the Hornets.

So, what would you expect a team to do when all of its lead initiators are out? Well, first of all, a loss but wins and losses don’t matter in the preseason. Most importantly, you expect a next-man-up situation. And that’s exactly what happened.

Tim Frazier stepped up all the way from the end of the bench and created 12 assists for his teammates. Andre Drummond contributed 4 assists as well and overall the team was able to generate good looks against Charlotte’s defense.

The frontcourt was the major source of offense, with Tim Frazier and Bruce Brown setting them up. Andre Drummond and Markieff Morris scored 17 points each on 16 and 11 attempts to score respectively, while Christian Wood did his part with 12 points on 8 attempts to score.

Thon Maker and Joe Johnson weren’t bad either in the few minutes they played, scoring 6 and 8 points on 4 and 7 attempts respectively, but continued their unimpressive performances in the preseason.

Langston Galloway, with 18 points on 16 attempts, reminded us how important it is to shoot a lot of threes. He only made 5 of his 15 shots but all of his makes and 13 of his field-goal attempts were threes.

So, let’s dive into the three major things last night’s game highlighted.
