Wood over Johnson

You’re elated with Wood’s genuine happiness but lose the trust of a few staffers that you’ll have to repair, going against what they advised. At the end of the day, you have offensive upside and protect your frontcourt with a fifth big man.

Rewarding a player that earned his spot after years of battling to get to this spot carries over into the season and beyond, giving the Pistons a blossoming role player for the future in what could be a steal of the summer.

This is the roster you go to battle with:

PG – Reggie Jackson/Derrick Rose/Tim Frazier/Jordan Bone (two-way)
SG – Bruce Brown/Luke Kennard/Langston Galloway/Khyri Thomas
SF – Tony Snell/Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk/Sekou Doumbouya/Louis King (two-way)
PF – Blake Griffin/Markieff Morris/Thon Maker
C – Andre Drummond/Christian Wood

Load management prevents injuries and an energized Wood impacts several games to lead Detroit to 45 wins and the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs. But the Pistons can only muster two playoff wins in the first round against the Indiana Pacers.

Hopefully this fun exercise sheds light on the difficulty of what the front office deals with, even if the timing isn’t realistic.
