Unsure as to what type of myPlayer to build in the new 2k? Why not build your player based off of your favorite Detroit Pistons players!
It has been a month since NBA2K20 released and fans of the game have been grinding hard to make their myPlayers as good as they can. This year 2K has unveiled a new, more hands on myPlayer creation system. In years past, players were only allowed to select their position, height, weight, wingspan, and their primary/secondary skills. After making those selections 2K would assign you a player archetype with predetermined caps for each stat. This would greatly limit the number of unique archetypes and play styles possible for a myPlayer.
This year in NBA2K20 the myPlayer creation process is more hands on, with more choices to make and the result is greater variability amongst each individual myPlayer. This year in addition to the usual decisions such as height, weight, position, and wingspan; 2K has added the ability to select your physical profile, skill breakdown, stat potential breakdown, and takeover.
With all the decisions to make this year it can be a bit overwhelming trying to decide how to make your player as good as possible. Fear not! This article will offer some advice on how to make quality myPlayers in the mold of some of your favorite Detroit Pistons!
Be aware that while these builds are modeled after some of the more popular Detroit Pistons they are not exact replicas of them. It is NBA2K – not real life. Some players will be better in some aspects than they are in real life and worse in other aspects. For example, it is impossible to make a player with Blake Griffin‘s blend of athleticism, size, and skill.
The 2K myPlayer creation system simply will not allow for a player at his position to be made that way. Despite these limitations, they will be fairly similar to the player they are modeled after.
Another important thing to note is that when making these builds I did not value the ability to make free throws at all. If you are a park player then you will understand that the ability to make a free throw is useless as you never shoot free throws when playing in 2K’s myPark mode.
Even if you are a myCareer player, you do not take many free throws so I feel as if it is more useful to spend those precious attribute points on other more vital stats such as three point shooting, or finishing, or steals, etc.
If I gave a player a good free throw stat it is to increase the amount of shooting badges that player has to improve their jump shot. If this is something that bothers you then feel free to adjust your stat potential breakdowns as you wish.
Remember these are just suggestions so feel free to adjust anything as you wish to better adapt to how you wish to play. Without further ado let’s get into our first Pistons myPlayer creation!
