Detroit Pistons player grades in 119-110 win over Indiana Pacers
Small Forwards
Tony Snell: B+
Tony Snell’s Pistons debut was good but went under the radar which really fits him well. A soft-spoken, keep-your-head down and do-your-job guy like Snell is just what the Pistons needed. In Snell’s 32 minutes he managed to score 10 points on 4-for-7 shooting and 2-4 from behind the arc. He added two rebounds and assists but he made a large impact on the game, in a similar manner to Brown.
Snell’s lanky frame and quick hands and feet made him a pest to the Pacers wings. The Pacers first bucket that went in was a running floater from Jeremy Lamb but it was waved off as Snell was in the right spot playing good defense as Lamb had to push off to get space, committing an offensive foul in the process.
In my opinion, Snell and Brown are similar players on the defensive end, but Snell is a dead eye who has a career three point average of 40% behind the arc.
I know a B might seem high for a guy who scored five points in 20 minutes but I think Galloway played smart. He is notorious for his long two-pointers and questionable shot selection that cancels out his great 3-point shooting.
Galloway didn’t settle for any bad shots and kept the ball moving, something he didn’t do much of last season. He had a steal a block and four rebounds to add to his night and the Pistons didn’t need his scoring tonight as Kennard and Rose were firing on all cylinders. After Thon Maker’s bad game and Christian Wood’s underwhelming performance, many of the fans who wanted Langston to be sacrificed for Wood are starting to realize that he’s not a bad player.
