The Detroit Pistons escaped with a win visiting the Indiana Pacers to open the season. Here’s a preview of a rematch five days later.

The Detroit Pistons have hit a lull in their last two games after an impressive season-opening win at the Indiana Pacers. This time its the Pacers traveling to Little Caesars Arena.

Detroit (1-2) is off to a slow start after an impressive 119-110 win over the Pacers (0-2) in the opener. Home losses to Atlanta, 117-100, and Philadelphia, 117-111, have put a damper on the Pistons big win on opening night without Blake Griffin.

Indiana feels the same sentiment, coming in with high expectations and losing to a pair of teams – Detroit and Cleveland – that will be fighting for a playoff spot.

Prior to each game the @PistonPowered Twitter account will offer a poll for fan interaction on something related to that night or how a specific player or unit is playing. Monday’s poll features Derrick Rose, who told Keith Langlois he isn’t satisfied with how he’s playing.

What to expect

More from PistonPowered

It’s another lengthy injury report for the Pistons, with Griffin and Sekou Doumbouya out for the Pistons. Victor Oladipo remains out for the Pacers and Jeremy Lamb joins him on Indiana’s injury report, listed as out with a bruised right hip injury.

Reggie Jackson is is listed as doubtful on the injury report but the Detroit Free Press’ Vince Ellis reports that Jackson will be available Monday. Jackson has been dealing with a back injury and sat out Saturday’s game against Philadelphia.

That leaves an array of opportunities for players to step up. Perhaps Detroit Country Day alum Edmond Sumner gets an expanded role with Lamb out.

Detroit will have the usuals – Rose, Luke Kennard and Andre Drummond – in prime spots against the Pacers. Thon Maker and Christian Wood played valuable minutes off the bench together against Philadelphia and both could be called upon Monday, too.

Dwane Casey may continue to tinker with lineups as starting Bruce Brown, Tim Frazier, Tony Snell, Morris and Drummond did not produce well in Saturday’s loss to the 76ers. Had a different unit gotten the nod, Detroit may have fared better and flipped the game into a win.
