The Detroit Pistons lost to the Charlotte Hornets on a buzzer beating three-pointer. The final score was 109-106.

There are really no words to describe how Detroit Pistons’ fans are feeling tonight. Malik Monk knocked down a 26 foot three-point shot as time expired to sink the Pistons. This is arguably the most demoralizing loss for Detroit since Buddy Hield did the same last January.

Blake Griffin has to be better

While it was just his second game back on the floor this season, Blake Griffin struggled terribly. He played 30 minutes tonight and score 19 points. However, he shot just 1 for 8 from beyond the arc. Griffin also committed four turnovers, and was frequently seeming to be on the wrong end of offensive miscues.

Admittedly, he’ll need some time to acclimate himself to playing with his new teammates on offense. But there were too many times where he would revert back to his isolation basketball, which has proven to be largely ineffective. If that is the route that he chooses to take, then it’s important for him to also be mindful of the sheer number of pure shooters that surround him.

Case in point – Langston Galloway had 32 points tonight which was a career high.

Griffin did do a solid job of drawing fouls on defense. Tonight he drew three charging fouls, something that he was exceptional at last season where he drew the second most in the entire NBA.
