If you’ d like to watch the episode, you can check it out here:
Hosted by Joe La Pluma, the show focuses on the subject’s upbringing in sneaker culture, and dives into what are often some very interesting stories about their first pair of sneakers that drew the attention of others, as well as what the currently have in their collection.
NBA stars like Kyrie Irving, Jimmy Butler, Kemba Walker, Draymond Green, and the in-game sneaker legend himself P.J. Tucker have all appeared on the show. Griffin can now be added to that list.
Griffin told stories about waiting in line for certain sneakers growing up with his brother when they were younger. (Taylor Griffin – Blake’s older brother – was notably drafted with the 48th pick in the 2009 draft, the same year Blake went number one overall.)

Griffin went on to talk about the emergence of the Hyperdunk, one of Nike’s most prominent basketball shoes that Griffin himself actually began to popularize in the early 2010’s before his switch to the Jordan brand. To this day, while it’s begun to slowly phase out, the Hyperdunk remains a popular and versatile on-court choice for many players.
What was possibly the most interesting story was when Griffin reminisced over stories of meeting with Michael Jordan.
Because Griffin won a bet, (though he never disclosed what exactly it was) he was given the opportunity to create any colorway on any Jordan signature silhouette that he wanted.
That one of the rarest honors anyone can ever achieve, and he chose the iconic Jordan 11.
Going back to his Oklahoma roots, Griffin decided to choose a custom “Oklahoma PE”. (at the time Oklahoma had not switched from Nike to Jordan brand) It was a white shoe with crimson on the patent leather. At the time it was made, it was the only pair in the world that existed.
Though now, we can probably just call it a Pistons colorway, right?
At the end of the episode, Griffin is given the opportunity to browse the shelves and do what the show calls to do – go sneaker shopping. He came away with two pairs of sneakers, the Off-White Nike Blazer (tan colorway) and the Travis Scott Nike Air Force One. His total came out to $1,855.
