Wings
Luke Kennard
Line: 20 points, 8-12/4-6/0-0, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 turnover
Grade: B+
Kennard scored 20 points in a game for the ninth time this season. His efficient shooting is on an upward trend, having made 14 of 26 (53.8%) from 3-point range over his last four games. His smooth shooting, especially in the first quarter, paced the Pistons to an early lead and jump-started the offense.
Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk
Line: 13 points, 5-6/2-3/1-2, 2 rebounds
Grade: B+
Mykhailiuk scored a career-high 13 points with impressive efficiency. The 6-foot-8 wing showcased why he’s projectable on the offensive end. He had a nice show-and-go to get to the rim. He used his length to split defenders on another opportunity. His heralded shooting from college showed up with a fluid stroke.
Langston Galloway
Line: 8 points, 3-5/2-4/0-0, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 turnover
Grade: B-
Galloway wasn’t called upon for a high-volume shooting performance and the Pistons didn’t need him. Still, when he touched the ball he was efficient with it, making smart passes and hitting shots when provided the opportunity.
Tony Snell
Line: 5 points, 2-5/1-3/0-0, 1 rebound, 1 assist
Grade: B-
Snell’s stat line will rarely ‘wow’ anyone. His greatest asset is his defensive ability, which takes Detroit to a different level than when he was unavailable due to injury. The Pistons started off switching everything to not allow the Spurs to get into the paint, which forced them into some tough shots. Snell was a key part of Detroit’s defensive ability.
Sekou Doumbouya
Line: 4 points, 2-2/0-0/0-1
Grade: B+
Doumbouya was impressive on his cuts from the wing to the elbow and down through the lane. He finished through contact for his first career points. His ability as a cutter coupled with his length and athleticism is going to be an issue for teams. His athleticism has likely allowed him to get away with things but he’ll continue to learn the speed and physicality of the NBA game over time.
