3 takeaways from the Detroit Pistons 127-103 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks
The Detroit Pistons saw their short two game winning streak snapped tonight after a lengthy battle against the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Detroit Pistons have not defeated the Milwaukee Bucks in ten consecutive games including last year’s playoff match up, and that doesn’t seem like it’ll change any time soon. Despite the Pistons coming close to finding themselves back in the game on multiple occasions, they always came up just short.
As it stands, the Pistons will never have a solution for stopping the reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo – and that applies to most NBA teams.
Last season during Giannis’s historic season, fans often found themselves saying “once he develops a perimeter shot of any kind, it’s over for the league.”
Most people likely thought that we were two or three years away from that happening – but it’s already here. He’s shooting 30 percent from three-point range this season, and knocked down 4 tonight on 8 attempts. What are you supposed to do as a defensive unit when that happens?
Team’s can sag off of him along the perimeter if they so choose, and that’s what Detroit found themselves doing a lot tonight, but he punished them for it.
There are few defenders in the league who can properly guard Giannis, and unfortunately none of them are on the Pistons. This is a match up that will likely continue to frustrate Detroit fans for the coming years.
It’s also horribly inconvenient that this is the second time Detroit has played Milwaukee this season – and both have come on the second night of a back to back.
