Detroit Pistons: Ranking Derrick Rose’s 10 best game-winners of his career
By Jacob Potter
10. 2005-06 state championship dagger
While it’s only high school, this is where Rose’s clutch nature started, sealing a state championship for Simeon in 2006. In a defensive, gritty game that went into overtime at 29-29, Rose took the ball up the court with a pep in his step with 10 seconds left, slashing left and skying for a right-handed floater similar to his 2011 Christmas game winner against the Los Angeles Lakers.
9. Recent turn-around to sink Pelicans
With only four points in the first three quarters, Rose started to heat up in the fourth with 15 points in the quarter before his game-winner. With the score knotted at 103-103 and 14.7 seconds left, the Pistons opened the floor for Rose to create against Jrue Holiday. Instead of going with his signature floater or step-back jumper, Rose went with the smooth 15-foot turn-around jumper to give the Pistons a much needed-win to advance to 10-14.
8. Fadeaway jumper to lift Timberwolves over Suns
Last season with the Minnesota Timberwolves marked Rose’s comeback after several trying years. After a historic 50-point night earlier in the season, Rose added to his resume with a tough step-back, fadeaway jumper with a hand in his face to cool off the Suns. The win moved the Timberwolves closer to .500 at 22-24 as Rose came through in big moments as the go-to guy.
7. Halloween floater in Bulls win over Knicks
In his first season back from the torn ACL, Rose proved he still could make big shots marked by this tough floater over 7-foot-1 center Tyson Chandler. With the Bulls down 81-80 in need of a bucket, Rose came through to send the United Center crowd home happy with a win on Halloween night.
