6. MVP season three over Rockets

While this wasn’t a game-winner, Rose was just starting to put the NBA on notice in his MVP season with gravity-defying dunks, acrobatic layups and clutch shots like this game-tying three.  The difficult three with two defenders in his face sent the Bulls to overtime, eventually winning 119-116 on their way to a league best 62-20 record in the 2010-11 season.

5. Step-back over Klay Thompson

In his return from a devastating meniscus tear after tearing his ACL the previous year, Rose was catching his stride as he dropped 30 points and a game winner on the 36-6 Golden State Warriors.  Rose went with his signature step-back jumper this time over Klay Thompson, who is widely regarded as one of the best defenders in the NBA.  Thompson couldn’t have played better defense, but Rose proved that great offense beats great defense, ultimately leading to a 113-111 Bulls win.

4. Dagger over Brandon Jennings

By this time, Rose was established as one of the best players in the NBA after becoming the league’s youngest MVP at 22.  With the division foes tied at 104-104, Rose sized up Brandon Jennings with four quick crossovers into a step-back dagger with Bulls color commentator Stacey King on the call.

“Let me step back and kiss myself, MVP time,” King shouted.  “Windy city assassin does it again.”

The Windy city assassin became Rose’s mantra as he continued to drop opponents at the buzzer.
