The Detroit Pistons have now lost five of their last six games following a 119-107 defeat at the hands of the Chicago Bulls.

We’re just over a quarter of the way through the 2019-2020 season and we can now begin to draw conclusions about this Detroit Pistons team. Unfortunately yes, they’ve been plagued with injuries and that’s no fault of their own.

Regardless, this team too often lacks the ability to effectively compete with any team, especially ones with a sub .500 record. The Pistons are now 0-8 this season against the Bulls, Wizards, and the Hornets.

Blake Griffin voiced his frustration a few weeks ago when he said the Pistons appear to love the feeling of a win, but don’t want to fight for them. That sentiment has begun to feel more and more truthful as the season progresses and there doesn’t appear to be a light at the end of the tunnel as the injuries keep piling up.

Defensively Detroit regularly has trouble in nearly ever regard. Tonight it was the perimeter performance from Chicago that did the Pistons in. The Bulls shot 51.4 percent from three-point range, with most of their looks coming uncontested. They also out-rebounded the Pistons 46 to 29.

The Bulls would have outscored the Pistons 40-24 in the third quarter had it not been for Markieff Morris‘s back to back threes in the closing 20 seconds. Chicago wound up going on a 17-5 run during the closing minutes of the game, which put away Detroit.
