With little young talent in the rotation, Griffin’s horrible contract and, quite frankly, one of the league’s most boring teams, there isn’t much for Pistons’ fans to get excited about. Our only hope lies in the potential of the young guys. Sekou Doumbouya, Jordan Bone and Louis King have all flashed enticing skills in the G-League and it is time they get a look against NBA talent.

Not only does the Pistons’ record and injury situation give Detroit a chance to see what they have in the rookies, they might actually be better than the players they would replace. Let’s face it, guys like Tony Snell, Tim Frazier and Markieff Morris aren’t exactly setting the league on fire. The trio of Doumbouya, Bone and King might even be an upgrade, even at this early stage of their respective careers. Even if they aren’t, is anyone going to complain about not watching Snell or Frazier as much?

Pistons’ fans need a reason to watch these games, a reason to have hope for the future, so it is time to unleash the youth movement in Detroit. It’s time to hand over the keys to Bruce Brown and Luke Kennard as a backcourt to see if they have a future there. It is time to let the rookies get out there and take their lumps, to learn from Dwane Casey and to start developing the future of this team. It’s time to give the fans some hope.
