Andre Drummond: Starter Pokemon

When each game begins, the player is required to pick a starter Pokemon. Andre Drummond is the Piston that I would want to start out with. He’s come a long way since he was drafted and remains one of the more divisive players in the Pistons fan base. Some think that he is a bum and doesn’t try while others see the potential that he has, both as one of the best rebounders in NBA history and also a strong defensive mind. Which is why Andre Drummond resembles that of Squirtle. Though, at this point in his career, Drummond is definitely Blastoise.

Blastoise is a defensive power in the world of Pokemon as his large shell is nearly impenetrable. That said, Blastoise still has the ability to deal some damage. Blastoise is also 5’3” and 188 pounds. Drummond is 6’10” and 272 pounds, slight difference.

Much like that of Blastoise, Drummond possesses a strong defensive prowess. He’s had five seasons finishing in the top-5 for blocks. In addition to that, he’s also had five seasons finishing in the top-5 for steals. He nets a defensive rebounding percentage of 33.1 percent, which is the all-time best percentage, three percent higher than the next player.

He has the third-best active defensive rating at 100.1, behind that of Kawhi Leonard and Dwight Howard, the former won two Defensive Player of the Year awards and the latter won three Defensive Player of the Year awards.
