When it comes to fit, I think the first thing you need to always look at is the roster needs of a team.

Next year ,unless the Pistons find a way or reason to re-sign veteran guard Reggie Jackson, and depending on how you’d classify Bruce Brown with his growth in minutes as a point guard, the only point guard on the roster will be Derrick Rose.

As a team that hasn’t always been the most attractive to big-name free agents, the Pistons need to look to keep finding good young players in the draft that they will have under contract control for years to come.

As previously mentioned, Hayes spent a good chunk of his life growing up in France and playing pro basketball there for two years before he moved to the EuroCup. Having a similar background and culture to the Pistons other young budding star, Sekou Doumbouya however little you want to equate it too, gives some chemistry boost which helps a rebuilding team in any way possible.
