10 takeaways from the Detroit Pistons first half of the season
10. Worst is yet to come
Losing sucks. The Pistons are on track for their worst season since 2009-10 when they finished 27-55. Detroit only made the playoffs twice since then but the previous eight seasons with playoff appearances made it worthwhile, for a while.

The Pistons have lost a lot – nearly two-thirds of their games – this season and it isn’t going to get any better in the near future. Kennard and Jackson may be on their ways to a return but there’s no telling as to what the Pistons will do moving forward.
It appears as if Detroit is effectively tanking already. It’s easy to do when the injury report could start and, when healthy, beat other teams in the league. But Casey hasn’t been afraid to bench guys, namely Drummond in Monday’s loss.
As the Pistons sell their valuable pieces over the next four weeks, the rotation will get thinner and possibly younger. The chemistry battles will set Detroit back but getting them out of the way this season could yield to a better future.
But in the interim, prepare for the Pistons to lose. The pro-tank crowd better enjoy what they’ve been wishing for.
