3 takeaways from the Detroit Pistons 116-103 win over the Boston Celtics
The rookie continues to amaze
It’s difficult to try to come up with a takeaway that isn’t just “Sekou Doumbouya was fantastic and is an ever-improving product” but, after seemingly every single game that the Pistons play you find yourself noticing new facets of his game that you didn’t notice in their previous outing. Tonight was no exception and Pistons fans are becoming eternally grateful that he fell all the way down to Detroit in the draft.

Scoring a game-high (and establishing a new career-high with) 24 points tonight on 77 percent shooting and 40 percent from three-point range, Doumbouya wasted no time getting on the board tonight. Within the first few minutes he took a long two-pointer that off a catch and release left his hand in what felt like a millisecond.
The more touches he gets – the more his confidence grows. You’re seeing him call for the ball in a post-up situation and try to put the ball on the floor and make a play, and more often than not he’s able to put points on the board from it. Tonight he hit a contested off-handed floater from outside the restricted area and no matter who we’re talking about – that’s a tough shot and he executed it as if it were second nature.
As a fan you arrive at a point where there’s only so much you can say when the continued brilliance of a young player is on display night in and night out. The way he’s able to defend on the ball is just as impressive as it is away from it. The way Doumbouya moved in transition tonight, it’s just so easy for him.
The NBA is a wild place, and tonight the Pistons found themselves on the right side of fantastic victory.
