3 takeaways from the Detroit Pistons 127-106 win over the Sacramento Kings
The Detroit Pistons have now won three of their last four games following the 127-106 defeat of the Sacramento Kings.
In a game that was dominated by the Detroit Pistons in the second half, one may think that the game was within reach for the first 24 minutes, but that wasn’t necessarily the case.
While the score itself was close, the Kings found themselves unable to effectively capitalize off of any of Detroit’s miscues. Whether it was turnovers or running in transition, Sacramento was regularly missing open looks both at the rim and from the perimeter.
This prevented them from establishing an early rhythm and conversely, the Pistons used this to their advantage and began slowing the pace of their offense in order to better their chances down the stretch. In the end, it paid off.
Detroit also held a massive advantage in a free throw attempt disparity. The Pistons attempted 44 shots at the line compared to just 23 from the Kings. Detroit’s efficiency (84 percent) allowed them to maintain their lead.
The Pistons did a tremendous job of defending without fouling, as well as making a defensive adjustment in the second half to better defend along the perimeter.
Capitalizing off of the Kings woes on both ends of the floor is what inevitably won this game for Detroit, something that they’re seldom able to do. An all around solid performance on offense in the second half propelled this team to victory tonight.
