3 takeaways from the Detroit Pistons 127-106 win over the Sacramento Kings
The return of Jackson
It has been exactly 90 days since Reggie Jackson last suited up for the Pistons, and after a roller coaster of developments for the last month or so, he finally made his return to action tonight.
He didn’t disappoint either, the ease of movement we were seeing from him was something that we haven’t seen since the playoff push of last season. The last time Jackson played his movement was restricted due to his back injury and he was tentatively moving around the court.
Tonight he looked like good as new. He has a consistent bounce in his step every time he took the ball down the floor and was confident with his jump shot. He opened up his scoring in the first quarter with a running floater, his signature move. We wouldn’t have it any other way.
Jackson is currently on an undisclosed minute restriction, which is to be expected. He played 19 minutes tonight and ended his night with 22 points and 4 assists on 57 percent shooting from the field. He also had a game-high +/- rating of +26.
The duo of Jackson and Derrick Rose (who scored 20+ points for the 10th consecutive game) in the same backcourt is interesting to say the least.
Jackson can play away from the ball for effectively than Rose can, and while tonight that wasn’t necessarily on total display it’s certainly something that will be monitored closely moving forward.
Since his arrival in Detroit, the Pistons have a winning percentage of .505 in games that Jackson does play in, versus .375 without him.
It’s safe to say that Detroit is happy to have one of their key pieces back.
