Kobe Bryant died in a helicopter accident Sunday morning at the age of 41. Here are a look at his top-10 moments against the Detroit Pistons.

Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant died in a helicopter accident in Calabasas, California early Sunday morning. Bryant was 41 years old. The news of Bryant’s passing comes less than 24 hours following LeBron James surpassing him on the NBA’s all-time scoring list.

Just hours earlier Bryant had reached out to James through multiple forms of social media to congratulate him on his accomplishment. In a postgame interview, James lauded Bryant, noting Bryant’s influence on him growing up and how special it was to wear a Laker’s jersey during this achievement.

Bryant is considered not just one of the game’s best scorers but is mentioned time and time again alongside Michael Jordan and James as one of the all-time greats.

His accolades are seemingly endless: he sits fourth on the all-time scoring list, is an 18-time All-Star, five-time NBA Champion, two-time scoring champion, two-times Finals MVP, Rookie of the Year in 1996-97 and league MVP in 2007-2008. Bryant as well has two jerseys retired by the Los Angeles Lakers (with whom he spent all 20 years of his career).

In 2018, Bryant transcended success in basketball by winning an Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film for “Dear Basketball”, which is based on a poem Bryant wrote in which he announced his retirement.

The news of Bryant’s passing quickly spread across the basketball world and was met by a heavy, immeasurable shock from both fans and players. Bryant’s influence impacted more than just his peers, but he was an active figure in the lives and careers of today’s generation of players, and even the generation after.
