Exploring other options

It goes without say that the possibility of Detroit moving either Rose or Drummond are far and away the two most likely options that the team has. But what lies beyond that?

As it was mentioned earlier, there aren’t too many names on the Pistons roster that are considered untouchable. Players like Sekou Doumbouya and possibly even Luke Kennard aren’t going to be easily pried away. Obviously Blake Griffin won’t be moved either due to his season ending surgery, but everyone else could be fair game.

Teams may start to look at players like Langston Galloway and Markieff Morris as reliable assets on the wing. Given the level of play that both of them have been at this season, it’s not inconceivable to think that due diligence will be done on them.

Galloway, who started the season hot has since cooled down and has seen his three-point percentage dip to 39.3 percent. However, he’s hit the second most corner threes in the league and can be lethal when he needs to.

Aside from those two comes the curious case of Christian Wood. Detroit’s backup center who aggressively worked his way into the rotation.

Though unlikely, there’s always been a market for Wood who in just four seasons has already played for five teams. The Pistons would undoubtedly get another center in return for him, but would that be beneficial for Detroit?

It appears that Wood has found a home in Detroit, one where the fans and the front office adore him. Though there could be value there, it’s more important that he remains in the Pistons contingency plan.

At the end of the day, fans want one thing: A future.

They want a product that if nothing else, they can look at and say “hey, there’s something there. In a few years this team could be a legitimate playoff threat.”
